Dr. Kathleen Peters

Dr. Kathleen M. Peters

Dr. Kathleen Peters and her husband, Dr. Paul Pidgeon, established Gardiner Family Chiropractic in 1989. They love being Mainers and Gardiner community advocates, and have been honored to help bring health and, because of that, more fulfilling lives to their fellow community members.

Dr. Peters graduated cum laude from National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois in 1984. She attended undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, and holds a degree in Human Biology. She and her husband owned an office in Chicago for several years before deciding that Maine was really where they wanted to be. They took a two-year hiatus between practices and backpacked around the world, caring for Peace Corp workers, International Volunteers, and local residents in many countries, particularly Southeast Asia, Nepal, and the Middle East.

In addition to techniques mastered to gain her Doctorate and those learned abroad, Dr. Peters is certified in Cox Flexion Distraction technique. This method is especially effective for caring for lumbar and cervical disc problems, with or without radiating pain. Additionally, she has attended dozens of seminars on a variety of techniques to augment her armamentarium in caring for a host of health challenges.

She loves working with people of all ages, her very favorite being children and teens. She is passionate about teaching her patients proper self-care, guiding them regarding concerns of ergonomics, exercise, nutrition, and the benefits of a positive outlook.

On a personal note, she loves doing things with her family, including Dr. Pidgeon, and their 14-year-old son, Dan. They have a wonderful yellow Labrador named Gracie. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Peters might be found on the ski slopes, or in the woods skiing or hiking, walking the beach, or choosing another great book to read. The whole family is still passionate about world travel, and they manage to fit in a trip now and then too. She counts her blessings continually, and loves being a chiropactor.

Dr. Peters is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the Maine Chiropractic Association.
